What do you want for the youth in Long Crendon?

swingIt was identified in the Parish Survey that there was a need for more leisure facilities for the children in Long Crendon. In lieu of the housing development that is happening in the village, the Parish Council have received a large sum of funding which has to be used for leisure facilities in the village.

Neither play area is currently used to its maximum capacity and the play equipment is dated and in need of replacing. We would like the play area to appeal to a wider age range by offering imaginative, adventurous and inspired equipment for a prolonged period of time. Both of these areas have the potential to be expanded, developed or changed completely. We have provided a presentation which will give you a flavour of what types of equipment is available and what look/feel we propose for the area.

As play equipment is extremely expensive, the Parish Council has set up a committee to apply for additional grant monies and we are putting together an application for the Wren (Landfill) grant. Because there are two play areas in need of redevelopment:-the Recreation Ground and Harroell Field, we will be able to apply for two separate grants, which if successful could total £90,000.

There are a number of ways you can support us on getting these grants and getting the type of play equipment that the children would want: -

  1. You can register your support for the project by letter – everyone counts towards the application. Either email your comments to caroline.bevan@long-crendon.com or drop them to Caroline Bevan, Todbury, 17 High Street, Long Crendon, Bucks HP18 9AF.
  2. Download or fill in the questionnaire online.
  3. Pick up a copy of the questionnaire from Cllr Bevan, The Post Office or the Doctor Surgery. (Ideally one per household member)
  4. Encourage your children to participate in this consultation by drawing or writing about what their ideal play area looks like (for each field)
  5. Attend the public consultation meetings – dates TBC on the website.

We would ask that you please give this your urgent attention as we can feed these comments back to the suppliers and get started on designs as soon as possible. These designs will be available for you to comment on when completed.

The final date for consultation on the design is the 22nd August 2009.
